Best Anxiety Cures

By Adrian Fletcher

Having chronic anxiety is not only very difficult to live with but it often hard to talk about. Mental health problems are not always taken seriously and people with anxiety often feel afraid that others will blame or ridicule them. So they struggle to find their own anxiety cures rather then letting others know what is going on. Due to their embarrassment, and the social judgments that prevail in some areas, seeking professional help is often rejected or done as a last resort.

One concern that many people have is that they will be forced to take a course of medication or some other form of anxiety cure that they are not comfortable with if they seek professional help. Some doctors may suggest medication but this is ultimately the decision of the patient and he/she can request a natural cure or some other treatment if not comfortable with the proposed treatment.

It might be helpful just to talk about feelings of anxiety with your doctor, even if you are not interested in traditional anxiety cures such as medication or therapy. Upon further discussion, he/she may be able to help you determine whether your medications, diet or lifestyle may be contributing to your anxiety.

Make sure you speak up about your opinions on treatment when discussing your anxiety symptoms with your doctor. If you don't talk to him about your preferences as to anxiety cures, he will more than likely just offer the standard medication and therapy.

Sometimes people think that because they have received a prescription or referral to a therapist from their physician that they are then forced to follow through. But you are the one who can make the choice regarding the course of action to follow. The main concern of all parties involved is to treating your anxiety with anxiety cures that fit your needs.

When you talk to your doctor about anxiety problems, be sure to be straightforward about the kinds of treatments you are comfortable with and about those you aren't. If you aren't interested in taking prescription drugs or going to therapy, communicate this wish to your doctor. At the very least you can state your desire to try some other options for controlling your anxiety first. Inform the doctor that you would prefer to try alternative anxiety cures like taking a yoga class or making a change to your diet and exercise program.

Contrary to what you might expect, your doctor probably has a wide range of options for anxiety cures available to help you. Don't make the mistake of assuming the only treatment available to you will be therapy or medication. Chances are that your doctor will be happy to look at alternatives, such as learning breathing/relaxation exercises, with you. He/she could know of people that provide these kinds of treatment and refer you to them. - 15255
