Acai Berry Supplements Are Not Created Equal

Acai berries have been all the rage around the mainstream media lately. Yeah, they're slow to catch on, but when they do, that's all they talk about for a while. Talk show host like Oprah and Rachael Ray have been talking about it a while. But does it actually work or are these celebs just padding their pockets?

One big thing that acai berries have over other anti oxidant fruits is the amount of anti oxidants they have. Nearly twice as much as blueberries and citrus fruits. This has lead many to claim these little berries are a Super Fruit loaded with disease fighting powers.

Acai berries are said to contain a huge amount of photosterols along with fatty acids, fiber and amino acids. These boost the metabolism which in turns burns more of your bodies fat cells. This has lead claims that acai berry supplements boost weight loss. There are many testimonials to this claim as well.

Acai berries and their supplements are extremely rich in protein and dietary fiber as well. Not only that, but they have a lot of the important fatty acids, omega-6 and omega-9, too. These help the heart too, but they have the added benefit of helping the cardiovascular system in addition. It is even believed that acai berries can benefit high cholesterol levels.

Believe it or not, our bodies do need fat. But the right kind of fat! Our bodies need essential fatty acids to maintain proper health. Our bodies are unable to produce Omega-3 and Omega-6 fatty acids. Acai berries contain good amounts of both essential fatty acids.

For quite some time, only those intimately familiar with the vegetation found in the Amazon rain forest knew about these amazing fruits. They grow wild there. They are deeply purple in color and they are known to contain a number of vital vitamins and antioxidants. It is mind boggling to realize that a potential curative has been growing all this time, and most of us have been completely unaware.

Last but certainly not least, acai berries are believed to contain a special anti aging agent. People who are really interested in health food have known this for years.
