I saw Confessions of a Shopaholic on Friday the 13th. The movie was definitely predictable and a bit depressing, but it was also a cute girlie movie.
I can believe the fact that we can get ourselves in a bind using plastic and a few of us do have creditors breathing down our necks, but in todays world I must confess it has to do with just living and not living with designer clothing. Though it must be nice to wear Prada, Gucci, etc. , but the average Jill ( my female version of the average Joe) doesn't buy these name brands...more like Anne Klein, Tommy, INC, Jones of New York..yada yada yada... But never the less, these clothes can add up too. Believe me, I know.
You could call me a shopaholic. I love to shop and think that I have to have at least a couple pieces of the latest fashions to mix and match with last years wardrobe. Fortunately, a lot of last years styles are still "in" this spring and summer too.
Just the other day I went to my local TJ Maxx to look for some torn, acid wash skinny jeans that I read about online. The only jeans closely resembling what I had in mind were some wide leg jeans with a few tears here and there. I really didn't expect TJ's to have them, but I still managed to purchase a few other items. I found a silk skirt that was originally priced $188.00 down to $35.00, two knit tops; one to go with a sweater I had bought a couple weeks earlier for $5.00 and the other to go with the skirt for $13.00. Then of course the last minute I saw a green and white stripped jacket and top perfect for St Pats Day by Jones of New York sticker price (sounds like a car) $114.00 discounted to $55.00. Another reason I went shopping in the first place, I had a coupon for $10.00 off..oh they know how to get me...so all in all my shopping experience minus my jeans cost $100.00...a bargain.
The bummer of the whole trip is that I max'd out my TJ Maxx credit card on clothes I probably didn't need. The high that we get right before and during shopping is addicting, but are we replacing it with some other feeling we are missing in our lives? Does it thrill us and make us feel important to get noticed and envied by the Jills? Your guess is as good as mine.
Keeping up with the Jills can stretch our budgets to the max. Luckily, because of the economy the stores are having great sales. So even if we have to have something new to spice up our wardrobe we can find some great deals or maybe like in the movie Confessions of a Shopaholic we can find a rich man.
PS. If eBay sells the wardrobe from the movie, I am afraid I will be in trouble. :( - 15255
