Total Surfing Fitness program

By John Smithers

I have always been interested in trying new training techniques and fitness programs. Most of the ones I used for the last few years has not impressed me at all. But when a few of my surfing friends started with the Total Surfing Fitness program, and I could really see how their surfing improved radically, I decided to give it a try.

At the moment I have been following this program for 8 weeks and my fitness level and surfing has never been better. The whole program is 12 weeks long, but just after 5 weeks I experienced the below results:

- I could surf about twice as long before getting tired

- I improved my paddling power resulting in getting a lot more waves, having a lot more fun!

- Great increase in flexibility, I have always been very stiff, trying all sorts of stretches, but this really worked

- Board control and surfing technique

- Realized how much fun surfing is again!

The man behind Total Surfing Fitness, Clayton Beatty not only works as a personal trainer and has a degree in exercise & health science, he is also a keen surfer, and that is exactly what makes this program unique. It is made for surfers by surfers which means that all the exercises are surfing specific and made to get you the fitness to get the most out of your surfing.

So if you want to surf longer, more powerful and with better technique and flow I highly recommend this program.

This program also comes with some really good bonuses.

One is a surfing fitness test that determines your weak areas to know what exercises to focus on. The test measures your body strength, balance and core and also includes a powerful fast outdoor workout.

There is also really useful information on nutrition, different fats and their effect on your health.

My favorite bonus is the "turbulence training". A powerful exercise routine that works you like nothing else. It is easy to follow with good photos and instructions. - 15255

What are the Most Popular Types of Designer Frames?

By Amy Nutt

Eyeglasses used to be a burden to people. They were not very stylish, they felt like they weighed a ton, and they were extremely large in size. Unfortunately, those individuals could do nothing about it because they needed the glasses to see. There were children trying to get out of wearing their designer glasses, but they would have to wear them while they did their studies. At the same time they were humiliated as the other kids called them 'Four Eyes' and 'Geek.'

Times are definitely not like that. Billions of people have to have their vision corrected. Usually, they correct their vision with eyeglasses first and will move to contacts later. Fortunately, though, more and more people are finding satisfaction with their eyeglasses. This is great for those who may not be able to wear contact lenses. The advent of designer frames has made wearing eyeglasses a lot more bearable.

Popular types of designer frames

There are many types of popular designer frames. They come in all different shapes and sizes. They also come in many different colours. It just more or less depends on your eye colour, your hair colour, and the shape of your face. But no matter what your physical features are, you're going to find a designer frame that will take care of you.

Each manufacturer has their own unique style and it is that unique style that reels people in. One person may like Tommy Hilfiger, while the other person may like Calvin Klein because of the style.

The different types of designer frames out there include: Coach, Valentino, Ralph Lauren, Dolce Gabanna, Oakley, Gucci, Prada, Versace, Chanel, Dior, and many more. These are the individuals that are responsible for the rectangle designs that offer up a little bit of flair. For those needing a more round frame, perhaps a frame by Coach will get the job done. You can usually distinguish the different brands by looking at them if you're familiar with their styles.

The purchase

You have so many options when it comes to purchasing designer frames. You also have several buying options. You can always buy from your optometrist or a dispensary. Then again, you can purchase your desired designer frame on the Internet. This means you're going to have a lot more to choose from. You're not limited to the inventory of your optometrist or dispensary. Just make sure you are familiar with what frame shapes and colours look good on you. You definitely don't want to get something that is going to look terrible.

Then there is the fact that your prescription is going to determine what looks good on you. Those who require extremely thick lenses may not do well with a rimless or half-rim frame. So that is something else to keep in mind.

Most importantly, having so many buying options allows you to compare your prices. You can find the best frame and the best deal for you. You do, however, need to make sure you're able to have your prescription placed within the frame. It doesn't do any good to have a designer frame if you cannot use it to see out of. There is also the fact that you may find so many great deals that you decide to buy several different frames. Maybe one day you're in a certain mood and you choose your frame for that day. That's a good way to mix it up because, let's face it, designer eyeglasses frames are now a fashion statement. They're not a burden anymore. Perhaps that is why more and more people are making the decision to wear their eyeglasses over their contact lenses. - 15255

Am I Having Adult Asthma Symptoms

By John Schaefer

When an adult first experiences the onset of asthma they are usually very surprised by it. When people see children with the symptoms it is a normal assumption that they have developed asthma but it is often overlooked in adults. When the symptoms strike lots of times adults will hit the panic button because they have never experienced the shortness of breath and the wheezing and coughing. Occasionally, they will even think that they are experiencing a heart attack.

In reality if you are experiencing the symptoms of adult asthma then you need to go get checked out by your family doctor. I doesn't matter what you think it might be that is causing the symptoms the truth is it could be a number of things. Wheezing and tightness in the chest are not something that you want tot mess around with, and your doctor is the only one who can tell you what your condition is for sure.

With this in mind though there are some really good indicators to tell you if your condition is asthmatic in nature. Take into consideration what brought it on. Were you exercising? Did it come on you after you ate something specific? If you go outside on a cold wintery day does it happen when you breathe in? These are some questions that you can ask yourself to give you a clue on whether or not you might have developed asthma.

There are many different treatments for asthma out there and, like most chronic conditions, it usually requires a combination of things. One of the most neglected asthma treatments is diet. Having a diet that avoids things that trigger adult asthma symptoms is important, but it is not enough. Eating a lot of greasy processed foods will often put you at a greater risk of asthma, so it is important to eat a diet rich in fruits and vegetables, as well as grains of all sorts.

There is also of course the standard medicines that the doctor will prescribe to you. These are very effective in treating adult asthma symptoms. These medicines are usually inhalers. As a child my doctors prescribed me a maintenance inhaler that would keep my symptoms in check and an inhaler that would help me in the case of a severe onset of symptoms. This method of treatment is pretty normal but there are many different alternatives to treat your adult asthma symptoms. Many of these are natural asthma treatments that consist of a variety of herbs that have the effect of counteracting your respiratory signs. In the long run though you need to find what best works for your body. - 15255

Weight Lifting Programs, How to Train Your Shoulders

By Ricardo d Argence

Developing the shoulders is an important aspect of bodybuilding. In addition to looking amazing when doing a double back bicep pose, they make you look terrific when standing. If you develop your side deltoids in proportion to the biceps, the arms and biceps look large and well defined.

Your shoulder is composed by the posterior, medial, and anterior deltoid muscles. If you include the entire shoulder girdle, then it also consists of the muscles of the rotator cuff and the upper trapezius.

To the back, side, or front of the humerus, the deep rotator cuff muscles connect several parts of the thoracic region. Upper trapezius muscles are the muscles that run from the back of the neck; extend to the medial deltoid, then downward to intersect with the middle trapezius. Going further back on the shoulder, below the lower portion of the upper trapezius, is the posterior deltoid muscle. The outer section of the shoulder is the location of the medial deltoid, while the anterior deltoid muscle is apparent on the exterior of the pectoral muscles.

Either of your shoulders has an individual function when the arm is lifted. The arm is brought forwards, inwards, or rotated by the anterior deltoid. The medial deltoid allows the arm to move away from the side. When the arm is moved back or rotated outwards, the posterior deltoid comes into play. When the scapula is moved upward toward the ears, like shrugging your shoulders, the upper trapezius muscle does the job. Finally, the rotator cuff muscles provide stability to the arm when it is moving and allows the arm to rotate.

There are a number of exercises that will effectively build the shoulder area such as the military press, lateral raises, lying lateral raises, the Arnold press, behind the neck press, and bent-over lateral raises. The upright row in addition to bent-over rows will also help you build the shoulder area to magnificent proportions.

Indicative to building massive shoulders is the knowlege of how they work and are kept healthy. Injuries can quickly slam the brakes on any progress you are making, so take extra care to avoid them. One of the most common injuries is to the rotator cuff muscles. Rotator cuff muscles are not particularly large or strong muscles. Try to prevent injuries by including some band work into your shoulder exercises.

To minimize injuries be sure that you are using the right amount of weight. You should be able to have control of the weight through the entire movement. If you find that you can only do partial reps or you need to shift the weight around, then the weight is too heavy. Using too much weight puts too much stress on the shoulder and is likely to cause injury. Be sure that you can maintain the proper technique and use the full range of motion before increasing the weight.

While developing the muscles in the shoulder does require some work, bodybuilders agree that the payoff is worth the effort. Everybody's body will develop at a different rate, so experimentation and determination is important. - 15255

To Gain Good Health, Stay The Course In The Face Of Failure

By Ferda Shinsky

Imagine this scenario: a healthier you, a trimmer body, and a longer life; all without investing much time at all. Sound crazy? It's all too possible with just a few tiny behavior changes. But first, you absolutely must truly decide to reshape your body. If you decide that yourself, and this article can give you some help as to how to get there. The secret is to form good habits to replace your bad ones.

Most of us eat at will when our minds are bored and our bodies are inactive. The end result: An unhealthy amount of weight...an unhappy person...and an uncontrollable hunger. When we vegetate our bodies have nothing better to do than store the fat from the foods that we intake, therefore leading to obesity. Our bodies are screaming at us for a change through health related problems such as diabetes, heart conditions, cholesterol problems, breathing problems, etc. Now is the time to CHANGE!

Your brain is the biggest ally and your biggest enemy in gaining a healthier you. Your current poor health is an obstacle that you need to over come on your path to becoming a newer, healthier person. You have to cover your current habits with newer, healthier thinking. Self-esteem is important, because self-esteem will eventually drive you toward your goal. Don't wait for someone to pat you on the back when you do a good job; do it yourself. Learn to reward yourself for good behavior with small rewards that keep you on your path.

First, reduce your consumption of high calorie foods. You have to replace them low-calorie, nutrient dense foods. High fiber is key. You can also learn to make healthy substitutions for the unhealthy indulgences you make daily. For instance, if you were thinking of having a cheeseburger and fries, you might decide to forego the fries and make a beeline for a garden salad with low-calorie ranch dressing instead. If you are a sucker for chicken nuggets with creamy pasta sauce, you can try some low-fat chicken breast with vegetables and a high-fiber bun or bread, or you might want to replace that creamy pasta with a low-fat marinara sauce. Instead of oily take out pizza, try some oven baked fish with rice and a small salad instead. Your body will thank you.

Another great change is to exercise when you are bored instead of eating. Go outside; plan some physical activity instead of sitting in front of the computer. If you're a total hermit, get a stationary bike and pedal while you watch your soap operas. You can take a walk with a friend, go swimming, explore your local mall, or pace around the house; any kind of moving is better than sitting.

Write down everything you eat so you are sure of what's going in. Lots of people gain weight by noshing in front of the television with a big bucket of chicken. Portion your food and write it down. Because it's a lot easier to keep track of how many calories you are taking in if your food is portioned. It's time to get out of denial about how much food you really eat. Lots of overweight people claim they don't really eat much food, but sometimes they eat a lot without knowing it.

Another good item to document is your activities. Keep a log of your activities that you work at daily or weekly. You can go online and access different websites that will tell you the approximate amount of calories that you burn during an activity. One such website is http://www.nutristrategy.com/activitylist4.htm. You can also find other websites to your liking as well.

Never fear failure; expect it. You will probably fail multiple times before you reach your goal; that's just the way it is. Those failures are the loss of small battles in an overall war for your longevity and health. You must stay the course on your path to health in order to win the war. We all have bad days. If your boyfriend yells at you, and you get angry and plop down in front of the TV and eat too much chocolate or slurp down a whole gallon of ice cream, it is absolutely not a reason to beat yourself up about it and quit. Slipping up is just a signal that you aren't there yet. Throw out the rest of the gallon of chocolate chip cookie dough and pick yourself up and right get back on track, instead of making excuses and falling back into the pattern that got you sick in the first place. - 15255

Why You Need To Have A Blog For Physical Therapy Marketing

By Samuel Awosolu

Online blogs provide commentary or news on a particular subject such as sports, news, music or a hobby. Most blogs online function more as personal online diaries. A typical blog combines text, images, and links to other blogs, web pages, and other media related to its topic. The ability for readers to leave comments in an interactive format is an important part of many blogs. Most blogs are primarily textual, although some focus on photos, audio podcasting, videos, or all combined together.

Many physical therapists who have private practices, physical therapy products, and continuing education courses can use blogs to keep in touch with their readers or create a community of readers interested in their subject matter. If you are a physical therapist who focuses on total knee rehab you can talk about total knee surgery and treatment. If your expertise is in rotator cuff injuries you can blog about rotator cuff injuries and treatments. By offering quality expertise in your field you gain trust among your readers and possibly a potential patient or walk-in.

Blogs are affordable compared to the cost of building a website. Most blogs are free or have a low monthly fee to maintain. The most common blog programs available are wordpress blogs or blogger. Both are easy to use and update. Blogs are also very search engine friendly so it will also assist in getting you found easier online.

Here are some things you can do with a blog:

Post daily tips and information to your readers.

Share your expertise and become the go to blog for useful posts about a specific topic.

Search Engines like to spider Blogs because the content is always fresh and constantly being updated!

There are a lot of directories catering to Blogs online. Some directories allow you to "Ping" them when you add new content to keep their directories updated.

Have your visitors subscribe to your blog by leaving a subscribe button on your blog so that interested visitors can get notified when you post.

Use Google adsense to get residual income from PPC targeted advertisers.

Have your blog offer RSS feeds and Podcast feeds of your posts.

Place links to important information from your website like the services you offer, continuing education courses that you offer, your physical therapy product information, and etc.

The important social and interactive aspect of blogs is its ability for visitors to post comments on your post. Creating dialogue shows your reader you are a live person behind the blog.

You do not need to be a programmer or coder to get a blog up and running. For the most part it is very user friendly and easy to start one up.

You can customize the design and layout of most blogs to cater to the look and feel of your business brand.

If you haven't noticed blogs are here to remain in cyberspace. If you are a physical therapist with a private practice, a physical therapy product or an instructor for a continuing education course, you need to start planning on getting a blog running now. Any business looking to gain traffic and create a social presence in web 2.0 should have one. - 15255

What a Real Despearte Housewife Knows About Losing Weight

By Dorthy Weatherbush

How do they do it? You know those suburban housewives who have the kids in tow who look better than you managed to look in your early twenties. Their hair is perfect, their clothes are impeccable, and perhaps the most enviable detail their figures are flawless. These ladies have the same stresses that you have, but they have managed to find a way to keep their bodies in top-notch shape. The good news is that you are about to find out the secrets to how these real life housewives keep themselves in glamorous Hollywood starlet form. We have been able to sit down with Mrs. Lajoie, a real life desperate housewife.

As we sat down for the interview I could not help but be amazed at how beautiful Mrs. Lajoie was. She did not wear the usual mommy attire, but rather a pair of designer jeans and a tailored white shirt. Her body showed no signs of having had three children. As a matter of fact, I am in awe of how toned and fit she looks for a mom of a toddler. My first question to her was how do you do it?

"I am constantly on the move," she replies. She continues to explain that she gets herself walking every day, and especially walking on an incline. "One of the best things that I do is hit the sidewalks in my neighborhood with the stroller. Not only do I get the added benefit of pushing some extra weight due to my kiddos, but my neighborhood is really hilly. Walking up and down those hills really kick starts my bodies fat burning capabilities." From all of that walking Mrs. Lajoie has noticed that her legs have become more toned and strong which is important when you are chasing around a two year old.

At this time, Mrs. Lajoie get a phone call from her husband. She smiles once it's over as she hangs up the phone. I can only notice how she glows after years of marriage. "You're acting like a newlywed," I say " does your husband support your need for 'me' time?" She smiles and giggles a bit before responding. "He definitely does. I mean let's be frank. Men are very visual creatures naturally, so he loves that I look great. But it is so much more than just that. He really loves the confidence that I give off when I have been taking care of myself. The self-confidence makes me feel more attractive, which in turn makes me more attractive to him. Don't get it twisted, there are times that we are both busy and it gets really hard to handle the kids, but they are ours and we love them. We both desire to be strong role models for our kids, both in behavior and health. We therefore try to do alot of outdoor physical activity like roller blading, bike riding, playing at the park, and walking." I ask her, "Has it always been like this?" Mrs. Lajoie takes a moment's pause before continuing. This time she speaks more hesitantly. "Well honestly no. For a long time there, I got into a rut that many women face. I put on weight and stopped taking care of myself because I was unhappy with myself, which made my husband unhappy. It got so bad that I thought he was going to leave me. That was when I knew I had to do something to take back my life."

"How do you stay focused with the chaos of running a household?" I ask. "Really, yoga has saved my life. It is a great way to tone your muscles, but it is so much more than that. I find that it really calms me down, and keeps me centered throughout my week." She admits that finding time is a challenge for any mother, but it has to be a priority. If you take some time out for yourself, it will really benefit your family in the long run. "I need some me time to recharge my batteries." she says. "If I get that then I find that my tolerance and enthusiasm is better, which is more the mom and wife that I want to be. Though sometimes it may feel like I'm being selfish I have to remember that by taking this time for myself I'm really doing something that will help me to be a better me."

Mrs. Lajoie glances at the clock and catches me noticing. "Oh excuse me," she smiles. "I'm always keeping track of the time to make sure that I am not missing anything. You have to keep a schedule when you are a busy person, and it must include workouts." Mrs. Lajoie has had her fair share of personal trauma, but she has been able to take control of her life, and now lives the life the many women only dream of. "What we women need to remember is that we are important and we have lots to give. We must take care of ourselves, not only for our sake, but so that we might be able to take care of our families. - 15255
