Curing Constipation the Natural Way

By Sue Thompson

If you have been having painful and strained bowel movements for 3 months or more, then you are constipated. Sometimes constipation is just a matter of changing ones diet, but there are also instances when it is a symptom of a serious disease such as lupus or cancer. Schedule of bowel movements vary from individual to individual, however if you eliminate only one to three times a week, then you are suffering constipation.

What are the signs that tell me I am constipated?

If you are constipated your stools will be hard and dry. Expelling is difficult and painful. There are long intervals between your bowel movements, from a few days to a week.

What causes constipation?

There are both simple and serious reasons for constipation. A stressful situation may sometimes lead to a temporary constipated condition, however a serious disorder such as colon cancer and irritable bowel syndrome may be behind the problem.

Some causes of constipation:

Stress and depression

Too much consumption of dairy products

Insufficient fiber intake

Not enough fiber in diet

Will a laxative solve my problems?

It can but make sure you do NOT become dependent on it. If you always take a laxative to ease constipation you would only make it worse. Over time a laxative can weaken and numb your internal parts.

What is the ideal cure for constipation?

A fiber rich diet combined with natural medication is a surefire way to treat chronic constipation. However, if such natural approaches do not alleviate your condition, then it is best to consult with a medical professional. Your constipation may be a symptom of a more serious disease. - 15255
